so, ive been wanting to try out ear candling for quite some time now. after reading one of chuck palahniuks books, he describes a way to accomplish this without having to go to a new age store and fork over the cash for "professional" ear candles. they are supposed to work by creating a vaccuum and drawing any type of crud out from your ear canal. a few minutes before we started i decided to do some last minute research on any side effects or dangers of doing this.. turns out that you run the risk of actually making your ear drums bleed. but yaknow, sometimes you have to follow your dreams.

• step one: choose your specimen.



• step two: an assistant to make sure your dont set yourself on fire, and learning how to put company stationary to good use.



• step three: roll paper into a funnel, insert into ear.



• step four: its not that i dont trust amanda, but id rather have a damp towel on to keep from setting my hair on fire.



• step five: set the paper on fire, hope for the best. it helps to try to look like youre smoking a joint through your ear.



• step six: happy birthday to me.



• step seven: you will know if the flame gets too close to your ear by the burning feeling on your skin.



• step eight: as you can see, this was a complete waste of my time. either that or i have incredibly clean ears. either way, this exercise was pointless.
